Bio

Dr. Belinda Chiu is a social change strategist who helps strengthen organizations by identifying talent, coaching individuals, delivering research, and developing initiatives. Her expertise lies in:

  • Developing culturally competent leaders through professional coaching;
  • Facilitating strategic ideation and planning discussions;
  • Advising for improved organizational processes;
  • Identifying, recruiting, and evaluating talent;
  • Conducting market and ethnographic research and analysis;
  • Promoting inter-racial dialogue and cross-cultural communication;
  • Leveraging educational and economic opportunities for social justice;
  • Advocating for more mindful and sustainable living;
  • Addressing needs of underserved populations; and
  • Bringing people together to effect significant change.

Dr. Chiu has worked for the public, private, and academic sectors, including organizations such as Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Dove Consulting Group, Sesame Workshop, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of State. With over a decade of experience in highly selective undergraduate and graduate, corporate recruitment, and career coaching, she is also a MBTI® Certified Practitioner. She brings her experience:

  • International educational and global programs;
  • Tertiary educational institutions;
  • CPG, retail, and online business companies;
  • Children’s educational media; and
  • Non-profits and associations.

Dr. Chiu graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. in Government with Honors. She holds a Master in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, with a concentration in International Education Management and Entrepreneurship and International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. She received her Ed.D. in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, setting a department record for successful completion of her degree. A leader and member of various civic organizations, she is also trained in mediation and focus group facilitation. She was the recipient of Dartmouth College’s Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award and was the youngest person featured in Working World: Careers in International Education, Exchange, and Development (2008) by Sherry Mueller, Ph.D. and Mark Overmann. Her most recent book, The One-Hundred-Year History of the Phelps-Stokes Fund as a Family Philanthropy, 1911-2011: The Oldest American Operating Foundation Serving the Educational Needs of the African Diaspora, Native Americans, and the Urban and Rural Poor, is available with Mellen Press. An avid traveler and food enthusiast, she is fluent in Cantonese and proficient in Spanish.
