When we get anxious or upset, our breaths naturally quicken, hurrying our pulse and increasing our nervousness. This cycle continues, paralyzing us or prompting us to act impulsively. To pause the fight or flight reaction, take deep breaths throughout the day. Inhale and exhale for the same counts.
